Something new for me! At least something that I haven’t done since my A-Levels. I’ve composed 5 pieces of music in partial fulfilment of my MA in Music Production.

I started by composing a piece for each family of instruments, and then brought all of them together into a full orchestral composition. They’re not listed on SoundCloud in the order I composed them in. I hope you enjoy!

The orchestral composition is partly inspired by John Williams and is written to sound like a classic film score. The string quintet is based around late Classical and early Romantic string ensemble works of Beethoven and Schubert. The brass band piece is returning to my roots as a tenor horn player, and is partly inspired by Eric Ball. The woodwind piece is based on the painting ‘The Fairy Way’ by Margaret Tarrant. My percussion composition didn’t have one particular inspiration, but instead I aimed to explore composing a piece which showcases various dynamics, rhythms and time signatures.
